Published 2012-03-19

The TQ Group (Germany) has launched the TQMa53 controller board (56 mm x 44 mm) equipped with Freescale’s Cortex-A8 processor. The related starter-kit comprising main-board, control module, and auxiliaries will be available soon.

THE EMBEDDED CONTROL MODULE FEATURES the ARM processor i.MX537. The connection to the base-board is possible by means of two 120-pin connectors. The module is specially designed for HMI applications. The graphic processor supports resolutions up to UXGA. This means, the module is suitable for multi-touch screens. There are several LCD interfaces including a parallel port for single/dual LVDS displays. Besides the two CAN interfaces, the product provides Ethernet, USB, and three UART ports. The module implements up to 1 GiB of DDR3 memory and up to 32 GiB of flash memory.
The real-time clock needs to be battery-buffered by the main-board. The available starter-kit can be used as main-board. The company provides a Linux board support package (BSP). Additional packages for Windows CE, QNX, and VxWorks are under development.
