Kverneland Groups’s Vicon Unicorn is a mechanical single seed drill for sowing pelleted beet seed. In combination with GPS and Isobus communication, it enables precise seeding.
ACCORDING TO THE COMPANY, THE SEED DRILL is renowned for its adaptability to the different operating and adjustments which arise in the field. It is an internally filled precision drill for normal and mulch sowing, with a mechanical or electrical drive and an opto-electronic seed placement monitor. The drill is DLG (German Farmers Association) tested and approved. With its 6 to 24 row units configuration, it can cope with varying operating conditions. Of special note is the parallelogram design and the frame construction. The hydraulic, parallel folding mechanism allows the drill to be folded for transport on public roads.
The seed drill can be controlled via the Isomatch Tellus. Using Isobus as the interface, the Isomatch Tellus can communicate with all Isobus-compliant machines and is equipped to work with GPS systems. The touch screen is designed for long working days. The operator has a view of the machine via the two screens, which allows the user to follow the performance of the precision drill, the folding mechanism as well as the Geo-control functions.
The more precisely and evenly a seed is sown, the easier it is to work and harvest, and the greater is the possible yield. According to the company, seeding with GPS and Geo-control in combination with an electric driven precision drill is a step towards precision and cost saving.
Each electric driven seeding element, in combination with GPS and Geo-control, is automatically switched on or off in exactly the right place, ensuring there is no overlap with any row that has already been seeded. This is especially handy in triangular fields, on curved or irregular shaped headlands. The user can also continue seeding at night since the switching on/off of the seed elements is completely reliable.
