Electric scooter share programs are on hype in U.S. cities. In Brooklyn, New York, Revel Transit offers 68 e-mopeds by Tarrot (Spain) with a CAN diagnostic interface.

The rentable Muvi scooters manufactured by Torrot feature front hydraulic telescopic and rear single mono-shock suspension, hydraulic brakes, and a 4-inch LCD display on the handlebars. The battery-powered two-wheelers use two 1,2-kWh, 48-V Li-ion batteries for a total of 2,4 kWh of battery capacity and a 3-kW mid-drive motor with belt drive. The battery management system is based on CAN communication.

The City model of the Muvi has a top speed of 45 km/h with a range of around 80 km), while the Executive model has a higher top speed of 75 km/h. Both models provide GPS connectivity and feature keyless ignition. CAN as well as Bluetooth interfaces are available for diagnostic services in the XB-1 control unit. Also the dashboard with 320 x 340 pixel display is connected to the CAN network.

Riders are allowed to take the scooters anywhere in Revel’s “operating area” of Brooklyn and Queens, but must return the scooters into the smaller “home area”, which consists of just Williamsburgh, Bushwick, and Greenpoint.
