At the Agritechnica 2013, ifm introduced the PDM360 NG Touch. It is a dialog module with a 7,0 inch TFT touch display and a resolution of 800 x 480 pixel. It makes operation of the machine and indication of system messages possible.
THE MODULE OF THE GERMAN COMPANY is equipped with four CAN interfaces. They support the CANopen and the J1939 protocol, among others. The integrated USB 2.0 interfaces provide data exchange with storage media. The Ethernet interface cannot only be used for programming but also for communication with other network participants.
The product, shown at Agritechnica in Hanover, Germany, comes in an aluminum housing with protection rating IP65 / IP67, which enables mounting inside or outside the cabin.
The integrated M12 connectors provide connections for supply, inputs /outputs and communication. It can be used as a surface mount device using the RAM mount system or can be mounted on a wall. The service lid on the back allows the exchange of the battery for the real-time clock as well as access to the USB 2.0 service interface.
Protected by a scratch-resistant glass pane, the touch display, which can be read in sunlight, provides a resolution of 800 x 480 pixel with an aspect ratio of 15:9. Images and graphics can be shown with a color depth of up to 18 bit. The integrated 32-bit controller and the operating system Embedded Linux are the basis for the visualization of the graphics, the processing of the application program and the unit functions.
The Codesys software enables creation of the application software for the user. The graphic elements are created via the integrated visualization editor and can be selected by touching the screen. Application fields for the products are construction machines, agricultural machines, as well as municipal vehicles.
By the way, other variants without touch function are available, for example with an encoder for data entry or with an analogue video input for direct connection to a camera.
