IXXAT AUTOMATION (GERMANY), the successor of the Steinbeis technology transfer center in Weingarten, was acquired by the HMS Group (Sweden) two years ago. Both companies are long-time members of CiA. The integration into the Swedish mother company has been completed with the renaming to HMS Technology Center Ravensburg. The former Ixxat company has moved into an industrial park in Ravensburg, just a couple of kilometer from its former home in Weingarten.

The sales activities have been completely integrated into the HMS distribution network made by daughter companies in different countries and a number of distributors spread all over the world. The CAN products are still labeled Ixxat. This includes off-the-shelf devices such as CAN interface boards, CAN protocol stacks, and software tools for CANopen and J1939 as well as customized test tools for example for BMW. The technology center will also focus on Internet of Things (IoT) solutions stated Christian Schlegel, head of the renamed company. Another important topic is functional safety. But up to now, no CAN-based safety product has been released.
