CAN in Automation
CAN in Automation (CiA) has scheduled several events. This includes the CiA ‘25 event, webinars, regular seminars.
The final CiA birthday event takes place in January 17, 2018 in Nuremberg (Germany). On occasion of its 25th anniversary, CiA discusses the future of CANopen FD. The CiA Board of Directors will present the opportunities, expected application fields, and time-to-market of CANopen FD. CiA has released the CANopen FD specification CiA 1301 by the end of September 2017. CiA members are invited to meet up already in the evening of January 16, at 6:30 pm. The official event starts at 9:00 in the morning. On CiA’s website is the detailed program. The participation for CiA members is free-of-charge.
Additionally to the anniversary event, CiA announced the upcoming seminars in 2018. They offer seminars regarding Classical CAN, CAN FD, and CANopen. They are for newcomers and address development engineers, system designers, and technical decision-makers. The seminars last about eight hours. Here is another list of CAN-related seminars.
CiA also organizes webinars that provide an overview about the current status as well as trends in CAN-based networking. These webinars are all about the future of CAN FD, CANopen FD, and J1939. The CiA webinars cover basic technical information on CAN FD, the impact of CAN FD on CAN-based higher-layer protocols, latest trends in the physical layer design, as well as system design aspects. They are held in English language and the participation is free-of-charge. A CiA-engineer gives you information on a certain CAN-related topic that you have chosen. The individual webinars are intended for developers, who already have a basic knowledge of CAN and who want to discuss concrete CAN-related issues that are arising in a current project.
