17th iCC goes online
CAN in Automation (CiA) has re-schedule the 17th international CAN Conference (iCC) which has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is held as an online event in June 2021.
Originally, the iCC was planned as two-day conference. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was postponed. The re-scheduled 17th international CAN Conference (iCC) takes place as an online conference from June 14 to June 17. It is scheduled on four half-days allowing people from Asia, Europe, and America to participate jointly at a convenient time. The program is intended to be the same as of the postponed conference. The most interesting topic is CAN XL, the third CAN data link layer generation. The speakers are updating their papers and some additional presentations are given, or if necessary new papers will be acquired. Besides CAN XL, there are a lot of other topics covered by this conference.
The first iCC was held in 1994. “This event is regarded as a technical high-level conference for CAN technology covering all OSI layers,” said Holger Zeltwanger, CiA Managing Director and iCC program committee chair. “Who likes to discuss the latest information on CAN technology, should attend this event.” All previous iCC papers are available on CiA’s website.
At the end of each of the four iCC conference days, there is a question and answer session provided, in which all speakers of the day are present. In order to provide also space for informal talks, there are offered the CiA CAN Coffee (C3) chat rooms. These chat rooms can be used to discuss different topics, which are not in the official conference program. Attendees can meet there all the CAN gurus, said the company. The possibility of private breakout chats is under consideration. Additionally, question and answer sessions with all speakers of the day are provided.
Details on the iCC program are available on the CiA website. Early birds get a discount on the conference fee. CiA plans a supporting program with 'open' the company’s technical group meetings and webinars. According to the company, details will be published as soon as possible.
