In July, CAN in Automation organized a CANopen safety seminar. The 17 participants came from different lines of business and were informed about safety communication in CANopen networks.
DURING THE ONE-DAY SEMINAR in German, participants learned not only about the protocol but also about the requirements of implementation as well as an explanation of certification at various points of inspection. CiA’s speaker was Thilo Schumann.
He is the editor of the CANopen safety standard EN 50325-5 (former CiA 304) and represents the international users’ and manufacturers’ association in the national and international standard-committees. The next CANopen safety seminar is scheduled for 1st October.
Additionally, there’ll be a CANopen seminar for beginners on 10th October, taking place in Nuremberg, Germany. Other seminars are planned on 15th October in Zurich, on 22nd October in Berlin and on 11th December in Nuremberg. All seminars will be held in German and introduce the different CANopen services (SDO, PDO, NMT, EMCY, etc.), as well as their application from a system designer’s point of view. Furthermore, part of the seminar-content will be an overview about the different CANopen profiles.
