SPS IPC Drives 2014
At the SPS IPC Drives 2014 KAG (Germany) presented its CANopen drives i42, i42dc, and i63. The company also showed the prototype of a knee orthosis drive, which can increase mobility.
Visitors at the SPS could get informed about different options of CAN-capable electronics, the i42, i42dc, and i63. The i42 is a drive with a nominal voltage of 24 V and an angle resolution of 1°. It comes with CAN and CANopen interfaces, eight I/O channels, an integrated absolute encoder, and can be used for EC and DC motors. Additionally, it provides up to four analog inputs and up to five digital inputs/outputs.
The i42dc drive comes with a nominal voltage of 24 V and can be used for DC motors. It also provides a CAN and CANopen interface as well as five I/O channels. The drive features up to three analog inputs and up to three digital inputs/outputs.
The third product, the i63 comes with a nominal voltage of 8 V to 30 V and an angle resolution of 1,4°. It can be used for EC and DC motors. Like the other two products, it features a CAN and CANopen interface as well as seven I/O channels. It provides up to four analog inputs, four digital inputs, and five digital outputs. All three products are IP67-rated and suitable for speed and position control.
The company for engine and drive technology also presented other electronics, which allow individualization for the customers. “With our offer, we address especially anyone interested from the field of medical technology, agricultural economy, door automation as well as from the leisure sector”, explains André Harstrick, KAG’s Marketing and Sales Director.
A different highlight of the exhibition stand was the result of a cooperation project in which KAG took part: the prototype of a knee orthosis drive. It works by means of an active electrical drive, reduces the energy demand when walking, and this way significantly increases mobility. “Our specialists develop the suitable solution for practically every request”, says Harstrick. “For us, it is important to know which solutions our customers need – and of course to be informed about the market situation”, says Harstrick. “The SPS offers a stage for this purpose.”
