Microsystem with complete software stack

Trinamic’s TMCC160 Motion Cookie is an integrated microsystem with a 3-phase servo gate driver for up to 24 V and 1 A gate current. It comes with a complete servo controller software stack.

THE INTEGRATED GATE-DRIVER DRIVES a range of N-channel power switches for 24 V PMSM and BLDC motors. To connect the microsystem with a host PC or microcontroller, the following interfaces are available: CAN, UART and SPI. An analog input supports simple standalone applications.

TMCC160 supports a CAN interface with up to 1Mbit/s. An external CAN transceiver is needed to integrate the microsystem into a CAN network. It is possible to use the internally generated 3,3 V supply to power the I/O voltage of a CAN transceiver. The network topology should follow a bus structure as closely as possible. The connection between each node and the CAN network itself should be as short as possible to avoid signal reflections.

With a field oriented current control with space vector PWM, a velocity control loop and a position control loop and ramp controllers, the software builds a complete servo controller stack. As position feedback the system takes ABN incremental (quadrature) or Hall signals. Motion Cookie microsystems are designed to minimize time to market and total cost of ownerships.

An evaluation board for the motion control system is also available: TMCC160-Eval is both a reference design and an evaluation platform for the integrated servo controller microsystem.
