Single-cable connection

Kollmorgen has introduced the S700 servo controller providing optionally a CANopen interface. The output current ranges from 1,5 A to 72 A.

The benefits of connecting drives using just one cable are obvious in machinery and plant construction: they include faster installation, space savings, reduced inertia, and lower costs to name a few. Following very positive experiences with the AKD and AKD-N servo drives, the supplier has equipped its S700 servo drive with its single-cable connection technology.

The servo controllers are designed for complex drive tasks – with safety technology up to and including SIL-3. The devices can be programmed freely with macro support in IEC 61131-3 based language. They can be controlled via the optional CANopen interface. The in-house developed SFD digital resolver or high-resolution Hiperface DSL encoder are also connected via the single-cable. Other features include Safe Torque-Off (STO) and cogging compensation for applications requiring ultra-smooth movements. The servo drive is optimized with the company’s AKM series and frameless KBM series of brushless servomotors.
