Powerball modules

THE ERB POWERBALL CONTROLS the movements of two axes in a single module. It also supplies high torques, and can be used to implement compact lightweight arms, service robots and other modular handling applications. The product fits to the mechatronic modular system from Schunk (Germany). Thanks to the embedded micro-controller and the CAN communication, the modules can be integrated in existing control concepts. The advantages of this modules are according to the provider:

  • Two independently moveable axes integrated into a single housing for complete flexibility in the rotary motion in addition to the compact design
  • High torque and velocity for rapid acceleration and short cycle times
  • Integrated control and power electronics for creating a decentralized control system
  • Versatile actuation options for simple integration into existing servo-controlled concepts via CANopen

The electrical control is carried out by the integrated control electronics. No additional external control units are necessary. For the transmission of power supply and data communications, the provider offers a variety of cables. For creating combined systems (e.g. gripping/rotary units), further modules from the PowerCube series are available.
