Frequency inverter complies with CiA 417

Ziehl-Abegg (Germany) has launched the Zetadyn-4 inverter allowing operation of the elevator motor without contactors. Motor contactors and short circuit contactors were replaced by wear-free and noiseless electronic switching elements.

THE CANOPEN LIFT APPLICATION PROFILE (CiA 417) compliant device is the successor of the Zetadyn 3 inverter. It supports the velocity mode as well as the position mode. Due to the access to the encoder for the shaft copying, additional functions can be provided. One function is the test driving ability recognizing movements of the cabin by an absolute encoder of the shaft copying and displayed in the Zetapad display. It also possible testing the motor brake by means of measuring the braking distance with the mentioned encoder. The result can be displayed. Now, lift system constructors have the opportunity to install elevator systems without disturbing switching noises. Especially, machine room-less elevator systems will benefit from this innovation. The housing design and the compact construction make the inverter suitable for switch cabinet installation as well as for wall installation in the machine room or elevator shaft.
The launched inverter features the Safe Torque Off (STO) function according to IEC 61800-5-2 (SIL 3). It can be used for cable elevators with synchronous or asynchronous motors as well as hydraulic elevators.
