Stepper and motor controller with CANopen

Trinamic (Germany) offers two CAN products: TMCM-1311, a fully closed loop stepper control unit with CAN and EIA-485 serial bus system control for stepper motors with incremental a/b/n encoders, and TMCM-3110, a 3-axes stepper motor controller/driver module for 2-phase bipolar stepper motors. As an option TMCM-3110 is also available with CANopen.

THE CANOPEN FIRMWARE FULFILLS CiA 301 version 4.02 and CiA 402 version 3.0 standards. CiA conformance has also been tested. The variable bit rate ranges from 20 kbit/s to 1 Mbit/s. On modules shipped with the TMCL option, CANopen firmware can be installed using TMCL-IDE. The TMCM-3110 supports up to 3 bipolar stepper motors with up to 2,8 A RMS coil current and nominal supply voltages of up to +48 VDC. There are separate motor and reference/end switch connectors as well as incremental encoder (a/b/n) connectors for each motor. Communication can happen via EIA-485, CAN, or USB interfaces. The module offers eight general purpose inputs and eight general purpose outputs for various application possibilities. The firmware allows both standalone operation and direct mode.

For the TMCM-1311 a graphical parameterization tool for parameterization of all closed and open loop functions is available for download free of charge. The unit controls one bipolar stepper motor with up to 3,0 A RMS coil current and supply voltages up to +52,5 V. With incremental a/b/n encoders it supports closed loop current and position control. The CAN bit rate ranges from 20 kbit/s to 1 Mbit/s, which is the default setting.
