Automation controller with CAN

The A2-PAC programmable automation controller from Cannon Automata (Germany) features a Sercos master interface and onboard I/Os. The base unit is equipped with Intel multi-core Atom or i-Series CPUs.

AS COMMUNICATION INTERFACES CAN, EIA-232/485, and PC-typical interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet and USB are available for the user. The real-time Ethernet interface supports Sercos and Ethercat, each as a master or slave. A mini-PCI Express slot is available as well, which permits expansion of the controller with additional networks or interfaces such as WLAN, Bluetooth, GSM modem or Firewire. Besides an mSATA solid state disk, the controller is equipped with an SD-Card as removable disk. The CAN and digital I/O interfaces can either be addressed by the system CPU over PCIe or the second onboard CPU. In this configuration the data exchange with the system CPU is done over a fast dual-port RAM interface.

The different panel interfaces allow the connection of control panels of the Automata A- or F-Series over a single cable for power supply, video, touch screen, USB, keyboard, and I/Os for lamps, buttons and switches. The touch panels can thus be operated over a distance up to 25 meters away from the base unit.

The controller offers fan-less operation and measures 175 mm x 120 mm x 55 mm. Its operation temperature ranges from 0 °C to +55 °C and features a IP20 protection level. The controller is programmed with the IEC 61131-3 tool Codesys. Libraries provide alternative programming in C/C++ or other high level programming languages.
