Processor module with Linux

The PIA-AM335x-PM from Pironex (Germany) is a processor module based on the Cortex A8 32-bit ARM architecture. The module provides a base for the development of AM335x-based devices for with Linux.

THE MODULE IS SUITED FOR USE in industrial environment. It comes in the size of 60 mm x 45 mm and offers freely configurable interfaces. The interfaces of the processor, amongst them two CAN, two USB, six UART, GPIO, SPI, I2C, and others, are connected to the baseboard via two 100-pin edge connectors. The module features a Sitara AM335x ARM Cortex-A8 microprocessor, an up to 1 GHz Cortex-A8 core, up to 2000 MIPS, and crypto hardware accelerators (AES, SHA, PKA, RNG). It also features up to 512 MiB DDR3 SDRAM and up to 16 GiB eMMC, 128 Mbit NOR Flash, and FRAM.

The module comes with Angstroem Linux, Kernel 2.6.37 and 3.2.x and open-source SDK with board-specific libraries. Android, Windows EC, and SYS/BIOS RTOS are available on request. It has a temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C and need a power supply of 5 V (± 5%). Possible applications include industrial automation, medical technology, industrial process and control, or as a data logger.
