Module control blocks

Load-independent control of hydraulic actuators

The aluminum module control blocks series 940 by Tries (Germany) is freely configurable for individual control solutions. The field of application is the load-independent control of hydraulic actuators.

THE ACTUATORS CAN EITHER BE OPERATED INDIVIDUALLY or simultaneously and independently with varying pressures and speeds. This is possible as long as the split streams do not exceed the total delivery rate of the pump. The module control blocks are mounted with special bolt connectors and comprised of six main assemblies.

1. Input module
There is only one input module in each block. It should be located at the beginning of the block. However, function modules can also be mounted to both sides of the input module. The connection is implemented with the company’s system bolt connector. Additionally, control valves and proportional valves for simple tasks may be installed here. With this connection option, central modules may be removed without disconnecting the completely module chain.

2. Function module
The basic blocks may be connected to each other in any order on the right or left side using so called special bolt connectors. According to the company, this makes it possible to connect any number of modules with only one system of bolt connector. The integrated valves are mainly valves from the Tries cartridge valve series. Thereby, each functional component can be replaced without disassembling the module chain if servicing is required.

3. End module
There is one end module in each block. The connection is also implemented with the system bolt connector. With this connection option, central modules may be removed without disconnecting the entire module chain. Additional control valves and proportional valves for simple tasks can be installed here, too.

4. Base valve
It provides a proportional 4/3 directional control valve for meter-in flow control, a pressure compensator at the inlet, a solenoid operated pilot valve controlling the main spool and a LS signal line. The basic function may be extended by electronics such as CAN for valve adjustment and diagnostics.

5. Electronic
The module’s electronics consist of universal control electronics that are not only suited for this module series. They may also be used to control any other proportional and control valves with 24 V and a maximum of 2 A. They work like an amplifier card with control values set by a CAN protocol. They are controlled via operation modes (operation modes are control modes developed by the company). The electronics come in a size of 90 mm x 74 mm x 29 mm.

6. Cable set
In order to be able to design the control block as a fully ready-to-install (plug and play) total system, suitable connections to the valves are incorporated. The basis for these are IP68-rated JAE MX23A series connectors that implement the connections to the module hydraulics.
