Fastwel (Russia) has extended its range of on-board computers with the MK308 box PC. It is PC104-based and was designed for the use in management information systems of different types of vehicles, including crawler vehicles.
THE BOX COMPUTER IS BASED ON THE INTEL ATOM D510 dual-core processor 1,66 GHz, whose performance is sufficient for solving computing and mapping tasks. VGA and LVDS video interfaces supporting a resolution of up to 2048 pixel × 1536 pixel make it possible to use the PC along with a range of rugged monitors and display video information. For storing map data it is possible to install a Compact-Flash SSD. Land navigation of vehicles which are equipped with this computer is provided by a GPS/GLONASS module.
The PC is integrated into the on-board management information system of land vehicles via two CAN interfaces. In order to control peripherals like equipment condition sensors and security devices, EIA-232/485/422 is available. For connecting PC-compatible peripherals there are three USB 2.0 ports, and for a remote data exchange GSM/GPRS and Wi-Fi modules. The structure of the unit, which supports installation of up to seven PC/104+ extension modules, allows changing the product specification according to the customer’s request.
The key feature of the product is its conductive cooling system, which enables removing excessive heat from each of the modules to the enclosure without the use of forced air cooling. Moreover, the heat removal system provides the product with additional mechanical resistance. In this case, the box PC has an IP65-protected enclosure. The standard version of the МК308 offers an operating temperature range from -40 °C to +70 °С.
