Icop Technology – a DM&P Group company – has extended its Ebox box PC series with 40 system configurations. The additional interfaces include variants with 4G LTE, CAN support, and CF card slots, as well as a classic printer interfaces (LPT). The systems can now be purchased with higher performance DM&P Vortex 86DX3 processors, in addition to the lower performance Vortex 86DX2 processors.

The company’s portfolio of compact systems (measuring 115 mm x 115 mm x 35 mm) with various interface options has thus been extended from 88 to 128 variants which each can be fitted with different processors. This amounts to a total of 256 Ebox box PCs. Due to the number of possible variants that these industrial-grade PCs offer, a fitting solution can be found for many OEM and system integrator requirements. As an option, customer-specific variants can be assembled even from a lot size of just one unit.

IoT and remote management

With to the LTE interface, the systems offer options for IoT connection and remote management functions. Target applications of the systems are to be found anywhere where IoT-connected control computers and IoT gateways based on the x86 technology are required. In the infotainment and digital signage markets, application fields are for example in trains, buses, airports, and hotels. In the HMI segment applications can be found in airplane and vehicle cockpits or in GUIs for professional fitness devices or pick-and-place displays in logistics environments. Vending, jukebox, and gaming machines are further examples. In the retail segment the systems are used in card readers, cash systems, or self-service terminals. Further deployment fields are control computers for home automation as well as a range of access control systems. Last but not least, the vast range of applications in industrial control and medical applications are part of the systems‘ repertoire of applications.

The range of interfaces, including numerous legacy I/Os, make the systems suitable for connecting existing equipment to IoT applications. The fanless Ebox-333x/336x box PC series can be obtained with two different Vortex 86 processors: the ultra-low power Vortex 86DX2 SoC processor with 933 MHz and the more powerful Vortex 86DX3 SoC processor with 1 GHz. All variants support 1 GiB or 2 GiB DDR2 or DDR3 RAM as well as PXE diskless boot. Standard interface options are built in majority on different amounts of CAN, serial EIA-232, EIA-485, and 4G LTE interfaces as well as on one or two LAN ports for the network. Beside these design choices, all systems offer three USB ports, optional WiFi dongle support, Sata, SD and SDHC support. The cross bar switch of the SoC processor offers additional options including OEM motion control implementations. The box PC series is compatible with the desktop series of Microsoft Windows and Linux, and supports the Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard 7 and Microsoft Windows Embedded Compact 7 series.
