The Rugged Computer Compact 8 by Syslogic complies with protection class IP67. I can be used in vehicles such as graders, wheel loaders, mining trucks, or dozers under extreme conditions. It features two Classical CAN interfaces.

The computers, which are based on Intel’s Atom E3845 processor, serve as data-loggers, as control computers, for data acquisition, or for vehicle-to-vehicle or vehicle-to-infrastructure communication. It’s aluminum housing is resistant to dust, water, and chemicals. The product therefore meets the requirements of protection class IP67 and is resistance against shock and vibration as well as extreme temperatures, moisture, and wetness.

Depending on the application, the computer can be equipped with various interfaces. These include two galvanic isolated CAN. J1939 and CANopen are also supported. In addition, the vehicle computer has radio (LTE, UMTS, GSM, WiFi, and Bluetooth). This way it can be used as an IoT device and paves the way for the Industrial Internet of Things.

The company uses M12 screw-type connectors for the interfaces. The industrial computer does not have any moving parts. Accordingly, it is suitable for continuous use (24/7) in harsh environments or for outdoor use and is also suitable for potentially explosive areas. The operating temperature ranges from -40 °C to +85 °C.
