Emtrion (Germany), a company specialized in embedded systems design, hardware and software, announces the availability of the Dimm-AM335x processor module, based on the 720-MHz AM335x Cortex-A8 Sitara SoC (system on chip) family from Texas Instruments. The device offers two CAN interfaces.
THE MODULE IS ACCESSIBLE IN SEVERAL CPU VERSIONS (AM3352, AM3354, AM3359) and on-board memories ranging from 512 MiB up to 8 GiB of Flash (SLC NAND) and either 256 MiB or 512 MiB of RAM (DDR3). Ethernet, USB, serial, SPI and I2C connectivity is offered. The device dimensioning 67,6 mm x 45 mm is also qualified for an industrial temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C. The product provider proposes support for hardware, operating systems and board support packages (BSP) as well as customized solutions. The unit for embedded control applications has a Linux BSP, BSPs for Windows Embedded Compact 7 (WEC 7) and for QNX 6.5, which will follow shortly. Android is available on request.
The BSP is delivered together with a ready-to-use developer kit. The kit includes the Dimm-AM335x module, optionally with two different baseboards, a touch display and a documented development environment.
The introduced module is electrically and mechanically compatible with the already existing modules of the company’s Dimm series for which the manufacturer guarantees an availability of over 10 years.
