32-bit PLC on module

SYS TEC (Germany) has introduced its PLCcore running Linux and Codesys. The SOM (system-on-module) provides CANopen and Ethernet connectivity. Open interfaces allow for extending the run-time with manufacturer-specific functions. The PLC on module is intended to be used as IEC 61131-3 programmable controller for special-purpose applications.

THE PRODUCT IS BASED ON THE COMPANY'S ECUcore hardware equipped with an ARM-9 processor. The pre-installed Codesys runtime system includes CANopen and Ethernet communication functionalities. The controller manufacturer can integrate several I/O driver software and application programs using the API (application programmer interface) shared process image. According to the provider no extra charge for Codesys development licenses are necessary, when using the shared process image.
The API (shared process image) designed by Systec provides an abstract and target-independent application interface to integrate user-written software (C/C++). This means, the user doesn’t need a Codesys development environment. All PLCcore modules support this API since 2007.
The PLCcore Development Kit includes an IEC 61131-3 development system in order to write application software in the five supported PLC programming methods (CFC, IL, LD, SFC, ST). For OEMs developing controllers based on the PLCcore the redistribution of the IEC 61131-3 development system to their end-customers free-of-charge. The SOM is also available with additional display.
