Control cabinet IPC family for industrial control applications

At the SPS IPC Drives trade fair, Kontron (Germany) announced the launch of a control cabinet IPC product family for automation. The four KBox IPCs have been designed for industrial control applications and offer scalability from entry to high-end level. One of them offers a CAN interface.

THE KONTRON KBOX A-101 IPC WAS MADE FOR various applications including medical, gaming, process control and various embedded applications. The fanless box PC with the dual-core Intel Atom processor D2550 is characterized by a maintenance-free design including a robust and fast SSD. With an operating temperature of -10 °C to +60 °C and a storage temperature of -40 °C to +85 °C it was designed for use within harsh and industrial environments. Individual interface layouts are possible via the integrated MiniPCIe slot. Displayport, two GiB Ethernet, two USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 and RS232 form the range of standard interfaces. Further options are CAN and two rear WLAN antenna connectors. The box PC measures 210 mm x 140 mm x 65 mm and weighs 2,5 kg.

All four systems feature an industrial-grade design for common control cabinet installations, are available long-term and can be fitted with industrial I/Os, serial bus systems, and Industrial Ethernet interfaces to meet individual requirements. Owing to the modular construction, the processor portfolio is scalable for individual design requirements.
