Fire-alarm panels combine CAN and Ethernet

Bosch Security Systems (Germany) introduced the enhanced modular Fire Panel 5000 series with IP networking and communication via fiber-optic cables. The combination of Ethernet and CAN networking allows for use in diverse applications and connection of more panels in one network structure.

THE ENHANCED GENERATION ENABLES a wider-ranging interfacing of a larger number of control units and loops and enhanced user friendliness. The product is compliant with the EN 54 standard. The devices may be operated from a colored fire panel touch screen, providing intuitive control and communication with all panels in the system. The remote keypad offers control functions on single panels or the complete network to which it is connected via the CAN or the Ethernet connection. The keypad is available in surface- or flush-mounted versions and can also be integrated in operators’ desks.
The usage of fiber-optics helps to cover large distances without noise interference. This is an advantage e.g. for large company set-ups with a number of different compounds sites or for complex systems such as airports or railway stations. Ethernet and fiber options are often used for transmission technologies in buildings. Thanks to IP technology based on Ethernet, configuration files and firmware updates may be easily downloaded. The modules and the connected devices may be faster installed and tested.
