EMS Wuensche (Germany) shows the CPCUSB/embedded at the Embedded World, which is a CAN interface for internal USB ports. Due to its compact size of 36 mm x 36 mm x 16 mm it is suitable for applications in embedded PCs.
THE INTERFACE IS INSTALLED DIRECTLY at a D-Sub 9 case opening or a slot panel and wired with the included cable to a pin connector of an internal USB interface of the mainboard. The pin assignment complies with CiA 102. The interface is equipped with a Cortex M3 micro-controller providing on-chip CAN and USB controllers.
By combining the CPU with internal peripherals, low latencies can be achieved. The interface is powered via USB, a separate supply for the CAN side is not needed. The gateway provides galvanic decoupling between CAN and USB
and has an extended operating temperature range with an operating temperature of -30 °C to 70 °C. It supports 11-bit and 29-bit CAN identifiers.
Application development kits for the operating systems Windows and Linux are offered additionally. Linux socketCAN is supported as well. The interface can be seen at the Embedded World from February 24 to 26 in Nuremberg, Germany.
