AED Engineering presented the AED-MPM (Multi-Protocol Module), which supports a range of communication protocols including CAN. It functions as a protocol gateway and can also connect with a user interface.
The module supports the following communication protocols: CAN, WiFi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, Bacnet, and Modbus TCP. Possible applications involve the integration of CAN control units into a building management system, or the wireless testing of them. Apart from functioning as a classic gateway between the protocols, the Linux-based Multi-Protocol Module also allows the connection with an user interface. The web services for supplying a website or smartphone app are running on the board.
The Germany-based company, which was founded in 2006, is headquartered in Munich and employs 45 people, most of them engineers. The team specializes in project management, systems engineering, software/hardware development, and systems integration for the automotive, aviation, medical technology, and telecommunications industries – from the architecture of on-board electrical systems through driver-assistance systems to wireless sensors.
