With a USB 2.0 connector at one end and a 5-pin National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) approved CAN connector at the other, the Kvaser Leaf Light HS v2 M12 provides a simple way to connect a PC to the on-board computer of a marine electronics system. The Leaf Light v2 M12 is suitable for diagnosing NMEA 2000 issues, configuring and flashing NMEA 2000 nodes, monitoring NMEA 2000 traffic and load conditions, and stimulating or emulating NMEA 2000 nodes.

Supporting high speed USB, all Kvaser Leaf Light v2 application-specific interfaces can send up to 8000 messages per second, each time-stamped with 100 microsecond accuracy. Galvanic isolation, previously a more expensive option on Kvaser’s original Leaf Light, comes as a usual feature on this series, which includes the Kvaser Leaf Light HS v2 and Kvaser Leaf Light HS v2 J1939-13. The high-speed CAN connection (compliant with ISO 11898-2) manages up to 1 Mbit/s.
