The Edge-Controller C34 by SYS TEC is a connection of automation and IT level, mountable on DIN rail. It supports digital I/O’s with 24 VDC, 250 VAC, and analog I/O’s with 0 VDC to 10 VDC and 4 mA to 20 mA.

The IoT device is a DIL-40 form factor plug-in core module for cloud connection, which is programmable by users. Unlike other IoT devices - which offer only pure gateway functionality, this one combines sensor2cloud requirements with data preprocessing features ranging from time-critical signals to control tasks. The product comes with appropriate function libraries pre-installed, making it ready for use straight away. Moreover, the product is prepared for the IBM-Cloud and supports a CAN interface and the higher-layer protocol CANopen (inclusive CANopen Manager-service).

The product supports simultaneous execution of IEC 61131-3 PLC programs and Linux applications. It is possible to share data between the PLC program written in IEC 61131-3 languages and other Linux applications implemented in C/C++, Node-RED, C#, and others, as the design focus was to support high-level languages, as well. The built-in CANopen Manager enables integration of other CANopen modules and allow distributing the application task to multiple networked devices. The communication and data exchange with other devices via Modbus is supported by extended Modbus/TCP function blocks.

The device features a backplane expansion bus, shielded between the module underside and the DIN rail. This expansion bus allows connecting extension modules to the control unit. The electrical connection between the product and the extension module can be SPI- and/or UART-based.
