At the SPS 2022 exhibition in Nuremberg (Germany), Deutschmann Automation presents its Unigate Falcon protocol converter/gateway in hall 5, booth 328. A CANopen variant of the product was announced for near future.
The DIN-rail modules connect automation components with the desired fieldbus. Implementation of the ready-to-use communication modules can optimize design times and time-to-market of an end product, said the company. The series measures 25,0 mm x 77,5 mm x 94,1 mm and is a good 30 percent smaller than the predecessor model. The size of the DIN-rail modules is identical in all bus versions.
Unigate Falcon is based on ARM Cortex-M processor technology. The modules are configured via a USB interface. Free programming, for example to emulate protocols, is possible with the Software Tool Protocol Developer from the company and the in-house developed script language. Script debugging is also done via the USB interface.
The first representative of the announced converter series is a Profibus variant but the company said, that they will quickly expand its roadmap with DIN-rail modules for CANopen soon. The CAN Newsletter is going to report then.
