Peak-System (Germany) has released the PCAN-Ethernet Gateway DR. It allows the connection of different CAN networks over IP networks.
CAN FRAMES ARE WRAPPED IN TCP OR UDP message packets and are then forwarded via the IP net from one device to the other. The configuration of the devices is done via a web interface. Besides a variety of status information, settings for the device itself, for the communication interfaces, and for message routing are provided. The company’s product has a LAN interface and two CAN channels with a bit rate of up to 1 Mbit/s. With an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C and the plastic housing for mounting on a DIN rail, the gateway is suitable for use in industrial environments. In future, the product series will be complemented by WLAN-capable gateways and also gateway software for PCs.
