Peak (Germany) has expanded their CAN-over-IP-Gateway product series with the PCAN-Wireless Gateway DR. It is a WLAN-enabled device, which allows the connection of different CAN networks over WLAN.
CAN FRAMES ARE WRAPPED IN TCP OR UDP MESSAGE PACKETS and are then forwarded via the IP network from one device to the other. The configuration of the device is done via a web interface. The product has two high-speed CAN channels with a bit-rate of up to 1 Mbit/s. The WLAN interface supports IEEE 802.11 b/g and establishes its connection via an external dipole antenna (2,4 GHz). Due to the extended operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C and the plastic housing for mounting on a DIN rail, the gateway is suitable for use in industrial environments. The company has been a member of CAN in Automation since 2006.
