Recom offers the R1SX series of automated 1-W DC/DC converters. It features 1-kVDC or 3-kVDC galvanic isolation suitable for communication protocols such as CAN.
The converters have nearly 20 % lower profile than others due to their inverted transformer design, said Digikey. These open-frame SMD (surface-mount device) converters leverage fully automated manufacturing techniques to deliver performance. The modules are available with 3,3 V or 5 V inputs and offer a single unregulated 3,3 V or 5 V output. There is no minimum load required and the quiescent consumption is less than 150 mW.
The converters can drive high capacitive loads up to 2200 µF, which is 40 times higher than the competition, the company added. Isolation is 1 kVDC or 3 kVDC (/H option) which makes them a solution for isolating data transfer lines in industrial communication protocols such as CAN. The converters operate at a temperature range from -40 °C to +100 °C without derating and have industry standard pinouts.
The series is fully certified to IEC/UL/EN62368-1 and UL60950-1. Class A EMC-compliance can be reached without external inductors; Class B EMC-compliance requires a single inductor. Digikey is seller of the converters.
