According to the company, Provertha (Germany) introduced industry’s smallest M12 connectors for field connections in CAN and Ethernet applications at the SPS IPC Drives 2012. A plug-and-play M12 compact CAN connector with 360° EMI/RFI shielding was launched as well.
THE IP67-RATED M12 CONNECTORS enable a fast and fail-safe assembly in the field. Secure and robust connections are provided by Crimp snap-in contacts, while the crimp flange ensures 360° shielding and a secure cable strain relief. The 5-pole M12 connector with the A-code according to IEC 61076-2-101 is specified for CAN applications, while the 8-pole M12 connector (A-code) addresses Ethernet applications. The connectors operate at a voltage of 50 VDC with a current rating of 4 A and comply with quality level 2 for 200 mating cycles. Wire sizes from 0,34 mm2 (AWG 22) to 0,5 mm2 (AWG20) are supported. The temperature range is specified with -20 °C to +85 °C.
The company also developed a plug-and-play M12 compact (47 mm x 33,6 mm x 14,8 mm) CAN connector enabling fail-safe network connection for industrial communication and automation. The IP67-protected axial (180°) connector with 360° EMI/RFI shielding is specially designed for applications with stacked interfaces where neither right angle nor angled cable exits can be used. The lockwasher under the Allen screw cares for vibration-proof locking at the CAN interface, whereas the Allen head enables locking at constricted installation sites.
The full-metal housing allows use in raw environmental conditions, e.g. in industrial automation, railway technology, and power stations. Pre-assembled non-losable lock screws simplify the field assembly. Sealing towards mating connector is implemented with connector seal in the D-Sub pin in the interior of the metal case. UNC 4-40 Allen screws lock the connector to the CAN interface. The D-Sub connectors comply with quality level 2 for 200 mating cycles.
