“Our CAN expansion module is a powerful tool that will allow our Algiz 8X rugged tablet to communicate with CAN networks in vehicles and industrial automation environments, without adding significant bulk,” said Johan Hed Handheld Group’s Director of Product Management. “The CAN accessory joins our COM port, RJ45 port, and barcode scanner modules to provide a range of expansion options for our customers. The CAN module allows the Algiz 8X to send and receive short messages such as sensor values or actuator commands, fully integrating the tablet into the environment’s centralized communication interface.”

The Pentium-based tablet computer is suited to tough industrial environments. It is IP65-rated and is MIL‑STD‑810G‑tested for military-grade protection against dust, water, vibrations, drops, extreme temperatures, and varying altitudes. A modular design allows the Algiz 8X to pair seamlessly with all kinds of expansions and industry-specific equipment. It features an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen built from chemically strengthened glass, is only 24 mm thick and weighs less than 1 kg.
