Signal converter
Axiomatic (Canada) released another DIN-rail mountable device. The AX130540 is a dual-channel signal converter with isolated SAE J1939 interface for engine applications.
The converter has four-way isolation between inputs, outputs, power, and the J1939 port to prevent damaging voltage from passing through into connected systems. It also minimizes the effects of electrical noise. Additionally, it accepts a range of input signals. The two inputs are selectable as voltage or current analog, resistive, PWM/frequency, or digital signals. In addition, there is a magnetic pick-up input and an encoder input.
Two outputs are configurable as analog voltage (0 V to 5 V, 0 V to 10 V, ±5 V, or ±10 V); analog current (4 mA to 20 mA, 0 mA to 20 mA), or PWM signal. It accepts 12 VDC or 24 VDC nominal power and provides a reference voltage of +5 V to power sensor inputs.
The device operates from -40 °C to +85 °C and is IP20‑rated. It has two LED indicators and is compatible with 35‑mm DIN rails. Configuration can be achieved using an Android smartphone application. Control logic can be configured using the Axiomatic Electronic Assistant. The firmware was developed using Simulink.
