The ATA65XX family by Microchip supports CAN FD and CAN PN (partial networking compliant to ISO 11898-2:2016. It features a temperature range of -40 °C to +150 °C.
The transceiver family includes various automotive Grade 0 qualified components. The ATA65XX series adds six products to Microchip’s CAN portfolio. Besides this family, which was originally developed by the recently acquired Atmel company, the chipmaker has developed its own CAN FD transceivers. Both product lines comply with ISO 11898-2:2016 and are qualified for data-rates up to 5 Mbit/s. The newly introduced transceiver family ATA6562, ATA6563, ATA6564, ATA6565, ATA6566 and ATA6570 includes also a CAN partial networking capable transceiver for improved energy efficiency of vehicles. The PN-transceiver ATA6570 also implements a window watchdog. Various OEMs have approved the family for use without an external common mode choke (CMC). All members include wake-up capability via CAN bus with dual wake up pattern according to ISO11898-2:2016. This avoids unwanted power-up sequences, leading to energy savings and reduced emissions.
“Microchip has one of the strongest and most complete CAN portfolios in the industry,” said Matthias Kaestner from Microchip. “Our transceivers ensure reliable communication in the harsh automotive environment with less external components and minimal board space, which leads to lower system cost.”
