Encapsulated sensor

BEI Sensors (France) offers the T-Series of industrial inclinometers. The sensors are intended for angle measurements of inclination (pitch and roll) and rotational movements.

THE SERIES PROVIDES MECHANICAL STABILITY with a completely encapsulated sensor for reliable performance in harsh outdoor environments. The product features protection class IP68K and IP68 and is offered with a glass fiber reinforce plastic or aluminum alloy housing. As interfaces, the unit provides a CANopen or analog output. Using the latest MEMS technology, the inclinometers offer a combination of precision and responsiveness, says the company.

The dual axis measurement range is up to ± 60°; optionally a single
axis measurement range of 360° is available. The inclinometer
series comes with a resolution of 0,01° and accuracy of 0,1°.
Additionally it features over-voltage peak protection, reverse polarity protection, and a termination resistor. Application areas are the measurement of inclination (pitch and roll), rotational movements, cranes and construction machines, robotic arms and positioning systems, mobile platform stabilization, as well as marine and offshore machinery.

Programmable CAN transmission modes

Polled mode: Via a remote-transmission-request telegram, the connected host calls for the current process value. The inclinometer reads the current position value, calculates set parameters, and sends back the calculated process value by the same identifier.

Cyclic mode: The inclinometer transmits the current process value cyclically, without being called by the host. The cycle time can be programmed in milliseconds for values between 1 ms and 65536 ms.

Sync mode: The inclinometer answers with the current process value after receiving a sync telegram. The parameter sync counter can be programmed to skip a certain number of sync telegrams before answering again.

Heartbeat function: A node signals its communication status by cyclically transmitting a heartbeat message. This message is received by one or any number of members (Heartbeat consumers) in the bus and so they can control the dedicated node (Heartbeat producer).
