Magnetic encoders with CANopen

FSG shows three magnetic encoders with CANopen at the SPS IPC Drives: a miniature rotary encoder, a multiturn encoder, and a multiturn encoder with inclination sensor.

The magnetic miniature rotary encoder MH609y-II-CAN features a magnetic and redundant measuring system. Rotary angles of 0° to 360° can be measured. The signal output is provided via two CANopen interfaces. With its redundant data logging and signal output, this sensor can be used in safety-relevant applications. Due to its compact design (diameter of 22,2 mm), this sensor is especially suited for tight mounting situations.

The miniature encoder has a seawater-proofed aluminum housing and protection level IP65. The shaft is made of stainless steel and has a diameter of 6 mm. The sensor withstands temperatures between -40 °C and +85 °C. Typical applications of the sensor are the axis measurement in joysticks or control transmitters used to control ships, construction machinery, or other vehicles and mobile installations.

The redundant multiturn encoder MH64-II-CAN(MU)/GS60 is provided with a magnetic measuring system to record angles up to 64 turns. Without internal gearing, the sensor can be used for angular measurements up to 360°. The signal output via a CAN interface is possible by means of the CANopen or CANopen Safety protocol and is therefore suitable for safety-relevant applications with PL-d. The signal output via 4 mA to 20 mA is suitable for safety-relevant applications with PL-c. The encoder can be used in mobile construction machines or working platforms, but also as a rotary sensor for length measurement systems like rope length transmitters.

The multiturn encoder with inclination sensor MH64-II-CAN/Mems/GS65 is provided with a magnetic measuring system to record angles up to a maximum of 64 turns. In addition, the rotary transmitter is equipped with a redundant Mems tilt sensor to measure tilt angles between 0° and 360°. The signal output via a CAN interface is possible via the CANopen or CANopen Safety protocol. It is also suitable for safety-relevant applications.

The rotary transmitter in its aluminum housing with IP67 is mainly predestined for use in draw-wire systems and cable drums. It can be used for the simultaneous measurement of length and inclination on construction machinery, mobile working platforms, as well as ship’s cranes and gantry cranes.
