The µCAN.4.ai-BOX by Microcontrol is an extended universal measurement module for the acquisition of analog standard signals. It supports CiA 301, CiA 305, and CiA 404.

The device is designed for measurement of ±10 V as well as 0 (4) mA to 20 mA signals with a 800 Hz total sampling rate. The sensor signals are evaluated and linearized within a rugged aluminum die cast casing with protection class IP66. The data is transmitted to the central evaluation unit via the CAN network. The used CAN protocol is CANopen. Indication of device state and errors takes place via 2 bi-color LEDs. The product comes with an anti-aliasing filter, module monitoring via heartbeat function, as well as an automatic start-up. Up to four analog signals may be connected. Optional scaling of the measurement units is parameterized via CAN.

The digitized analog values of the product are transmitted via CAN. The bit rate of the CAN interface is adjustable within a range of 50 kBit/s to 1 MBit/s. A terminating resistor may be activated via a switch in the device. The CANopen protocol of the module complies with the CANopen standards CiA 301, CiA 305, and CiA 404. Both 11-bit identifiers and 29-bit identifiers may be used on the process data.
