Twistlock sensor

Integration into crane networks via CANopen

The F9205 sensor by Tecsis is designed for measurement tasks on spreaders or for the weighing of containers before loading. This measuring method is suitable for new designs, but can also be used in an existing system.

The Twistlock sensor logs loads directly at the spreader and provides measurement data. In addition to its weight, any potential asymmetry in a container’s weight distribution must be recorded. The loads are then logged directly at the spreader – for the duration of the entire loading procedure. This involves functional safety and permanent access, said the company. The existing twist-lock can be retrofitted at any time with a measuring spring after preparation. The sensor can be integrated into the crane network via its CAN interface. The CAN pin-assignment of the 5-pin M12-connector complies with CiA 303-1.

The F9205 also provides protection class IP67 and a operating temperature of -40 °C to +60 °C. The sensors of this series are often used for dynamic measuring tasks as a replacement for non-measurement elements. The company said, the force sensors are made of high-strength, corrosion-resistant stainless steel 1,4542, which is particularly suitable for their application areas. The measurement value is available at the CAN interface supporting CANopen or J1939. Additionally, a discrete output (4 mA to 20 mA) is available.
