Steering wheel sensor
Allied Motion Technologies has introduced an integrated steering wheel sensor with adjustable steering feel (haptic) and CAN network.
The SWS (Steering Wheel Sensor) is a steer-by-wire steering wheel feedback sensor designed specifically for warehouse vehicles like reach, counterbalance, and lift trucks. Steering wheels can be mounted directly to the SWS and connected to a CAN network. Without the need for a mechanical connection, truck designers are free to position the steering wheel where it is most suitable from all aspects - ergonomic, practical, and economical. According to the company, for drivers, the sensor delivers a superior steering feeling from its no stick-slip, no wear, integrated magnetic friction system.
The unit with an integrated connector mounts directly to most vehicle steering wheels and comes with a sensing of ≥16,384 steps/rev. It also provides a CAN communication output and works seamlessly with the company’s EPS steering actuator motor for responsive, accurate warehouse and utility vehicle steering.
