STW (Germany) presented at the Sensor + Test 2013 their pressure transmitter, the M01-CAN, which was developed for automotive off-highway applications. The key feature of the new transmitter is its CAN interface.
THE SUPPORTED PROTOCOLS ARE CANopen and SAE J1939. The CAN bit-rate is configurable up to 1 Mbit/s, either 11- or 29-bit identifiers can be used. It is based on a thin-film measuring sensor, which is constructed of stainless steel and welded with the pressure adapter. The transmitter is available for use in pressure ranges from 25 bar up to 800 bar, optionally in addition with an integrated damping element.
The standard electrical connection is an M12 connector, but other connectors, including customer specific versions are possible.
The transmitter offers a sample rate of up to 1000 values per second, together with integrated, configurable averaging of measured values. The EMC, shock and vibration protection is designed for mobile machines and the rough environment they operate in, with a protection class up to IP69K.
