Posital (Germany) has introduced heavy-duty inclinometer versions with a CANopen interface and an integrated T-coupler. The sensors are suitable for mobile machinery applications such as cranes, hoists, and excavators.
THE CANOPEN INTERFACE IS COMPLIANT TO THE CiA 410 inclinometer profile. The devices feature a dual-color LED that indicates the device status and the network status as recommended in the CiA 303-3 indicator specification. The inclinometers are available as single-axis models with a measuring range of 360° and as double-axis models with a measuring range of ±80°. They provide a resolution of 0,01° at a measuring accuracy of 0,1°. A sampling rate of up to 100 measurements per second enables filtering of vibrations and shocks and minimizes the settling time.
The T-coupler enables a line cabling structure of the power supply as well as bus signals. The inclinometers require no external junction box and thus reduce wiring efforts. The aluminum housing is rated to IP69K. The sensors are equipped with stainless steel connectors that allow space-saving installation. The sensors feature capacitive cells based on MEMS technology (micro-electro-mechanical systems), and allow users to measure inclination values directly i.e. requiring no mechanical coupling to drive elements. In many applications, inclinometers can be used as an alternative to encoders.
