Tape extension sensor supports CANopen or J1939

The WB61 sensor by ASM (Germany) measures length up to 4000 mm. The device comes with CANopen or J1939 compliant interfaces. It is intended for applications in mobile machines.

THE TAPE EXTENSION SENSOR IN AN IP67/69K-RATED housing features a linearity of ±0,0 %. It is suitable for installations on cranes, excavators, forklift trucks, hoists, and access platforms. Due to the design of the sensor and the inherent strength of the stainless steel tape, it can be used harsh environments including low temperatures (-40 °C to + 85 °C).

The CANopen interface complies with the CiA 406 encoder profile (version 3.2).

It supports Heartbeat, Emergency, and Node-guarding. The three provided PDOs don’t support PDO linking and variable mapping.

The PDO scheduling is configurable. Besides periodical and change-of-state transmission, also synchronous sending (cyclic and acyclic) is possible. The device supports also to cams. The J1939 interface implements two proprietary PGNs, one for configuration purposes and the other to send the measured data. This version doesn’t support cam functionality.
