The CAN-Firewall protects the car from key cloning, hacking, and even key theft. The only way a thief could take a CAN-Firewall protected car is by physically towing it away, stated the supplier. The system has no key-fobs or LED indications to give away its location. The CAN-Firewall uses the buttons in the vehicle such as those on the steering wheel, the door panels or the center console, to allow the user to make a unique, changeable, PIN code sequence that must first be entered before you can drive your car. Just like your credit card but the user can make the car PIN even safer by making it up to 20 presses long.

In order to make security also be hassle free, the supplier has created an iPhone application that connects to the car and allows the user to get in and drive without having to enter the PIN code. This smartphone app pairing allows a single, authorized, connection with a secret pairing code that is unique to every gateway and communication between the CAN-Firewall and the iPhone is encrypted. All the user has to do is pairing the iPhone with the gateway. The CAN-Firewall application runs in the background with Bluetooth enabled.
