High voltage thermocouple

Temperature measurement for hybrid vehicles

Ipetronik's business division Ipemeasure has extended its range of high voltage products by a thermocouple module for K-type sensors. The measurement data output happens via CAN.

The module is approved for applications according to CAT I and CAT II (Photo: Ipetronik)

M-THERMO2-HV IS A MEASUREMENT DEVICE providing four inputs type K for safe temperature measurement on high voltage potentials. It can be integrated into M2 systems and features configuration and data analysis in Ipemotion and in Ipetronik data loggers. Each signal input comes with a separate high voltage safety connector. The inputs, the CAN interface, the power supply, and the enclosure come with complete galvanic isolation up to 846 VDC. The data-rate of the CAN output is selectable up to 1 Mbit/s.

The module has a measuring range of -60 °C to 1370 °C. It requires a voltage supply of 6 VDC to 36 VDC at an average power consumption below 0,9 W. The device’s working temperature ranges from -40 °C to 105 °C. It has IP65 protection level, measures 106 mm x 73 mm x 60 mm, and weighs 495 g. Its maximum operating height is 5000 m above sea level and its accuracy at an ambient temperature of 25 °C is ±0.035 % of the full temperature range.

The module was designed for engine compartment applications. It enables a tool-less module to module connection. Personal protection is given through certified high-voltage thermocouples and cables.
